About Me

Hello! My name is Kate Goforth. I am an 18 year old college student who loved all things bookish. I’m a Christian teen author and I write stories because I love storytelling, but also because I want to create clean stories that inspire children and teenagers to believe (in the words of Samwise Gamgee), “that there is some good in the world and that it’s worth fighting for” (Tolkien). In the same way, I love sharing books I come across that are clean, full of heart, and written beautifully. For more updates about the books I’m reading and the stories I’m writing, sign up for my newsletter below!

More on Writing

I started writing the beginnings of novels and wrote short stories around middle school. In 2021, I submitted a short story to Owl Hollow Press’ and Teen Author Bootcamp’s anthology, Level up. To my shock and delight, my short story, Outcast, was chosen and I became a published author on March 25th 2022. In summer of 2023, I wrote a short story with Instagram (I had my followers vote on the plot, setting, and characters) called Moonlight which I hope to revise and re-publish someday. Since then, I’ve been writing more short stories. In 2025, I have begun writing the first draft of my first novel, Project Storyteller.

More on Reading

I didn’t like reading until middle school. Per recommendation of an English teacher (and by my mom’s insisting), I picked up Short by Holly Goldberg Sloan. It was the first book I actually enjoyed and I’ve been reading books ever since. Some of my all time favorites are the Wingfeather Saga by Andrew Peterson, The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielsen, Float by Laura Martin, The Beautiful Pretender by Melanie Dickerson, Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins, and Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger.

More on Life

Aside from loving stories, over the years I’ve done musical theatre (some shows include White Christmas, Pirates of Penzance, Christmas Carol, etc), random crafts like cross stitching and jewelry making (it is my aspiration to get into bookbinding one day), I bake and cook on occasion and when I do, I love it, and I danced for many years (ballet, lyrical, tap, jazz, etc). I homeschooled my whole life and it was a good fit for me. I’m excited to attend college at my local community college then transfer to a four year university to complete my bachelors degree in Writing.

“Someday you will be old enough to read fairytales again.”
